The
Mole Valley Tramway
!!!The Mole Valley Tramway
A potted history ( The fiction )
This line was built as an extension to the Florence tramway. Built to 2 foot gauge primarily to serve the metal mines of North Molton, Heasly Mill and South Radworthy. Copper and Iron were the main ores produced and often in significant quantities.
The Station at Crowbarn was located close to Heasly mill in proximity to the major mines of the area, Bampfylde, Prince Regent and Florence. The book "Day's of Renown" is well worth a read if you are interested in such goings on!
So much for the history! it all goes a bit wobbly now. (the Facts)
The Mole Valley Tramway was started in 1984 ( You would have thought I should have finished by now!!! but I keep changing my mind)
I've made an effort to try and have localish feel Tuckingmill Lane, Lynwood Bay and the aforementioned Crowbarn. There are also two halts, Perry's Landing (named for a very good friend) and Marmaduke's Falls ( named where an Archangel Marmaduke came to grief many years ago, sorry Brian)
The Majority of the track is Peco SM32 both plain and turnouts. I have had to resort to hand build pointwork to suit specific locations, I use Peco rail and hand cut copper clad sleepers (these do require packing)
I will leave it there for now, But photos are threatened!!!
